About HYO
The Huntsville Youth Orchestra was founded in 1961 by Russell Gerhart,
founding conductor of the Huntsville Symphony, to provide a quality
musical experience and pre-professional training through rehearsal and
performance of great symphonic literature.
We understand that not all our musicians intend to become
professionals but we do expect all our students to do their best and
work seriously, developing pride in their accomplishments and love of
great music.
