The Harold J. Wilson Music Educator of the Year Award recognizes music educators who have contributed significantly to the development of young musicians in Madison County. It was established in 1993 in honor of the late Dr. Wilson who was a member of the Board of Directors and an active supporter. The award is given in two categories, school and private music educators. The categories will be presented in alternate years.

This year’s award will recognize a private music educator. It will be presented at the HYO’s Spring Concert on May 2, 2010.

Nominations may be made by students, parents, colleagues, organizations, and business and community members. A completed nomination form or a facsimile should be submitted along with a minimum two letters of support, one of which should be from a student or parent. Nominations must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2010 and mailed to:
